The Carbo Ratchamatic® is a load-sensing ratchet pulley that rotates freely in either direction under light loads and automatically engages the ratchet as the load increases. The transition from pawl mode to free sheave mode is smooth. The spring of the HTE version of the Carbo Ratchamatic 57 mm pulleys has been stiffened so as to delay the engagement of the pawl, allowing the sheave to rotate freely for longer. As the pawl activates at a higher load, the old spinnaker sheet is shocked more quickly, for cleaner gybes. Standard restraint: medium/low wind; holding power 10:1
