Adjustable mast root for Optimist with reinforced cup. This cup has been improved on several key points to increase its durability:
- The base and the rounded part of the cup are thicker, going from 1.5 mm to 2 mm.
- The weld between the cup and the threaded part has been reinforced.
Note: this reinforced root (cup) weighs 30 g more than the previous version.
Good news: the new cup is compatible with all base plates already fitted in boats, making it a simple upgrade.
The other characteristics remain identical to the existing model: this Optimist root has an oval cup allowing the mast to tilt forward when downwind. The different mast quest settings can be reproduced easily thanks to the scale on the base. A root lock spring can be purchased separately. The stainless steel spring prevents the nut from accidentally turning and eliminates the need for additional counter-locking nuts.
